Opera CEO’s interesting proposal

Some of you may have heard that the CEO of Opera was going to swim across the Atlantic. Here are the details.

“Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Inc., the Oslo-based browser
manufacturer, foundered on the second day of his ill-advised attempt to
swim from Oslo to the United States.

Mr. von Tetzchner rode a wave of enthusiasm last week when he vowed to
swim to America if the latest version of his company’s browser, Opera
8.0, were downloaded a million times in the first four days of its
release last Tuesday.”

For those of you who’ve never seen one, a Liger is a cross between a Tiger and a Lion. I’ve always thought they were interesting creatures. This one is in a zoo in Siberia.

RIP Sam Mills

I have never been a fan of the New Orleans Saints, but one of their greatest players passed away on Monday. Sam Mills was only 5-9, but he was a Pro Bowl linebacker and I always admired the way he played.

WiFi on steroids

Intel is releasing a new chip known as WiMax, and the goal is to bring wireless broadband Internet service to consumers. This is a major step forward in this field. Here is a link to one article. Do a Google search to find more.

“To start with, WiMax,
which Intel says will be up to six times faster than existing broadband
service in the U.S., will be used to bring high-speed Internet to homes
and businesses that lack service. But in a couple of years, WiMax will
go mobile, allowing people to download movies, games, and other content
without being tethered to a local hot spot, as Wi-Fi requires.”

Spanish Computing Terms

I recently posted a site where you could find Spanish keyboard shortcuts. I thought it might also be a good idea to show you a site where you can find computer terms in Spanish as well.

Examples

  • reboot - reiniciar, reanudar
