We are very fortunate in our fair state to have lots of great walking trails. From the mountains of North Georgia to Savannah on the coast, Georgia has a lot to offer.

Student plans ‘crime spree’ breaking odd American laws
February 27, 2005 in General by Stephen
Some people have too much free time.
"A MADCAP student is embarking on an epic 18,000-mile journey across
the United States to break the law in a "crime" spree worthy of Bonnie
and Clyde.
Fortunately, his transgressions are not likely to land him in jail,
because he will break only bizarre and arcane legislation, such as the
prohibition against falling asleep in any cheese factory in South
Dakota."
Bridge Design Contest
February 26, 2005 in Education by Stephen
For the past few years, West Point has conducted a contest for students in which they design a bridge. Even if you don’t want to enter, their software is free to download.

Be careful – you are not to use the software to design any REAL bridges.

XM Satellite Radio
February 26, 2005 in Tech by Stephen
I recently purchased an XM radio, and I am very pleased with it. The main attraction is that XM will broadcast every Major League Baseball game! There are also dozens of great music channels which feature no commercials.
Getting a signal indoors can be tricky, so you will have to try several places for your antennae. I finally found a decent spot in my office. In the car, it’s no problem.
If any of you have any thoughts on it or are considering it, drop me a note.
I do NOT work for XM!

Great baseball photo!
February 25, 2005 in Sports by Stephen
Those who know me know that I am a huge baseball fan. I always get excited at this time of the year because players are reporting to spring training. In honor of this, here is a great photo of the Polo Grounds from 1905.

Mini-Mozilla marches toward Windows mobiles
February 25, 2005 in Gadgets, Handhelds, Tech by Stephen
Interesting article for any of you who use Windows CE devices.
“Minimo, the Mozilla browser for mobile devices, is poised to move beyond Linux PDAs and onto Windows CE devices, according to the Mozilla Foundation.
Current versions of Minimo work only on Linux-based PDAs (personal digital assistants), but a future version will debut this summer on Microsoft’s Windows CE operating system, which is used on a variety of Pocket PCs and smart phones.”
TechRepublic – Add it to your favorites!
February 25, 2005 in Tech by Stephen
I’ve used the TechRepublic site for several years, and it is consistently one of the best technical sites out there. It doesn’t matter if your are new to computers or if you have your MCSE. I promise you can find something useful there. Memebership is FREE, and most of their articles and downloads are free as well.

Smuggler’s car so full it broke down
February 24, 2005 in Crime by Stephen
Today’s stupid criminal!
"A man from Poland had packed his car so full of beer, liquor and
cigarettes that it broke down, uncomfortably close to a border crossing
where customs officials were standing by."
A very interesting PowerPoint Article
February 23, 2005 in Microsoft by Stephen
Bob Denny has some unique thoughts about how to arrange a PowerPoint presentation. Basically, he says that you should think backwards. I recommend trying it. I’ve actually used this theory before, but I didn’t realize I was doing it.

February 23, 2005 in Crime, Tech by Stephen
Do you know what Spim is? It is the practice of sending unsolicited instant messages, and it is extremely annoying if you’ve ever experienced it. An 18 year-old was arrested in what is believed to be the first such arrest.
